R-1830 Twin Wasp Aircraft Engine

OVERVIEW - The R-1830 Twin Wasp is an American aircraft engine widely used in the 1930s and 1940s. Produced by Pratt & Whitney, it is a two-row, 14-cylinder, air-cooled radial design with seven cylinders on a row. A total of 173618 R-1830 engines were built. It was used in the Grumman F4F Wildcat fighter and in many other ww2 aircrafts, including two of the most-produced aircraft ever built, the four-engined B-24 heavy bomber and twin-engined DC-3 transport, more R-1830 Twin Wasps may have been built than any other aviation piston engine in history.

3D MODEL GENERAL INFO -The model was created based on photos and historical documentation. It was created with precision in detail and in real units of measurement to be a faithful digital reproduction of the original. The object has been modeled in Lightwave and finished and texturized in 3DCoat.

LIGHTWAVE and BLENDER - The engine is assembled with instanced copies of the cylinder to make the entire model lighter.

OBJ and FBX - I provide the entire model assembled as one mesh, but also divided into single parts (base, front cylinder, rear cylinder, propeller) so you can assemble the engine using linked (or instanced) copies to save memory (each cylinder have to be duplicated and rotated around the engine center of 51.43º - 7 cylinders on each line, 14 cylinders in total)

The entire model has 480K polygons, but the single cylinder has 28K polygons only

UV TEXTURE LIST:

Engine: color, metalness, normal, roughness, specular (8K textures)

Propeller: color, metalness, normal, roughness, specular (4K textures)

10 uv texture maps in total
